Derrick Scocchera is a director, screenwriter, painter, and the co-founder of Fantoma Films (a premiere DVD label that produced special editions of the films of Fritz Lang, Sam Fuller, Alejandro Jodorowsky, Rainer Werner Fassbinder, Francis Ford Coppola, Kenneth Anger and many others and robbed him of his youth in the process).
His new film “It’s Always Something”, which he wrote, directed and somehow got Stephen Fry to narrate, is currently having a highly successful film festival run.
He wrote and directed “A Perfect Place”, starring Mark Boone Junior (Sons Of Anarchy, The Mandalorian) and Bill Moseley (The Devil’s Rejects, Prisoners Of Ghostland), with a musical score by Mike Patton (Faith No More, Mr. Bungle) and photography by Hiro Narita (Never Cry Wolf, The Rocketeer). The film and its photography were the subject of an article in American Cinematographer.
He recently directed a music video for “Eracist”, the lead track off Mr.Bungle’s first new album in 20 years. This incarnation of the band included original members Mike Patton, Trey Spruance and Trevor Dunn along with Scott Ian of Anthrax and Dave Lombardo of Slayer. It has been described as “disturbing” by people who have clearly lead sheltered lives.
Derrick has also directed documentaries, designed movie posters, drawn storyboards and created DVD artwork for Francis Ford Coppola, Paramount and many others. His paintings have shown at multiple galleries in San Francisco and sold to collectors around the world.
